01 / What it is
Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic technique that uses light pressure and long, slow strokes, following the direction in which the lymphatic system runs.
It is much lighter than a deep tissue or sports massage. Many people book it simply because they find it calming, and it is often the treatment we suggest to anyone who has found deeper massage uncomfortable.
02 / Who it may suit
Who it may suit, and when to wait.
A guide, not a decision. Your practitioner confirms suitability at consultation, and may suggest a different treatment or a different time.
May suit
- People who enjoy a slow, light-touch massage.
- Anyone looking for a restful hour as part of a wider routine.
- Those who have found firmer massage too much.
We may suggest waiting
- If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or have had recent surgery, we ask for a conversation first and may ask you to check with your GP.
- We do not massage over broken skin, infection or swelling that has not been explained.
03 / Your appointment
What happens, in order.
- 01
Settle in
A robe, a short health form and a few minutes to arrive properly.
- 02
Talk it through
Pressure, areas to avoid and anything you would like more or less of.
- 03
The massage
Around fifty minutes of slow, light strokes, with linen covering everything that is not being treated.
- 04
Rest
A few quiet minutes and some water before you head back out.
Study
The same room, morning and evening.
Massage rooms are kept bright for daytime appointments and dimmed low after dark. Drag across to see the change in light.

04 / Aftercare
The next few days.
You also leave with this written down. If anything feels unexpected, call the clinic.
- 01
Drink some water and keep the rest of the day gentle if you can.
- 02
Some people feel sleepy afterwards, so give yourself a little time before driving.
- 03
Tell us at your next visit how you felt, so we can adjust the pressure and pace.
05 / Questions
Asked often.
01Do I need to undress?
Only as far as you are comfortable. You are covered with linen throughout, and only the area being worked on is uncovered.
02Do I need a consultation first?
Not a separate one. We ask a few health questions when you arrive, and we will suggest a conversation first if anything needs one.
03Can I book it as a one-off?
Yes. There are no courses to buy, and many people book it only now and then.
